In his 2016 autobiography, Papa John’s founder and CEO John Schnatter wrote, as a way of denigrating others and glorifying himself and his company, “We see news story after news story of CEOs who run companies into the ground.” Then the sexually and racially intolerant workplace culture fostered by Schnatter and his closest allies became public knowledge, and the pizza magnate’s empire began to crumble.  There is much to be learned from this tale, and a great place to start is this excellent article in Forbes.
